A Day by the River

The river brown with the souls of the lost
Glistening in the sun almost happily
As if there was never a cost
And the mourners walk by
Their heads bowed in prayer
Their eyes speak of despair
But the river still flows
And as for the souls
I believe they are happy there

Aftermath

I am lost
I am amused
Looking through the pictures
I never knew I drew
I am ashamed
I have complained
About the pain I couldn’t control
And maybe it’s left me tarnished
And maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll find I still have a soul
Left behind in the aftermath

All That’s Left

Naked grasps
Deserted will
Tears stream forth
Covering bruised flesh
Misconstrued
