Lyric Sheets, Pity Parties, etc.

Posted on September 27th, 2010

So, I went ahead a few days ago and added the lyric sheets for “Quad.” Other than that, life has been life.

I’ve been doing my best to clean, clean like my life depends on it, and to get it done before whatever overachieving emotional disorder that I have turns me into some sort of bi-polar, cat hording, crazy women (long story short, if I’m cleaning, I’m probably not working as much as what makes me happy). On the upside, I’ve found my old songwriting journal… which, apparently has more poems than songs and one of my two favorite pens (I write… a lot, I’m bound to have favorite pens).

Other than that, I’ve been getting ready for the fall… getting ‘girl’ clothes together for my Aunt’s wedding, trying to figure out some good vegan goodies for the holidays, and overall trying to reconcile that I’m really not gifted (or happy) with anything other than the arts (mainly music and writing)… and I’m just going to have to make that work (okay, I’ve been trying to reconcile that one for a while now, but the episodes of crying frustration and self loathing pity parties have been slightly more prevalent the past month).

Speaking of music, I’m taking everyday as it comes charging at me, so while I *hope* I still can get the vocal album finished by November, I may have to cut it down to 10 tracks to do it, otherwise it might sound rushed, and overall crappy, which is the last thing I want it to sound like. (I’m also going to see what I can do it make it very very free for download.) It’s also quite possible that I’ll have enough mostly finished material to aim for a second full vocal album for the spring (remember how I said that I write a lot… yeah, that doubly, maybe triply applies to music). So, that would be cool, lots upon lots of music for the end of 2010 and 2011 (just in time for the world to end in 2012). ;)

Free Music, etc.

Posted on June 30th, 2010

For those who don’t know (which should be virtually everyone, minus a handful of people, due to the fact that I’m at best, haphazard about updating blogs and such), in celebration of working on the next album (yep, new music should be popping up before the end of the year) I’m offering “Quad” over at CDBaby.com for free.

That’s four tracks of musicy goodness, including: Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition (Electronic/Instrumental), Look Me in the Eye (Rock/Vocal), Video Game Parade (Electronic/Instrumental), and Robots on the Rise (Electronic/Pop/Vocal).

To check it out and download it vist:

More updates, etc.

Posted on May 19th, 2010

I think I’m getting the hang of this template creation stuff. There are still a few more things to hammer out (for one, the menus look *horrible* in ie), but things are moving along.

I’ve gone ahead and started to add some of my poetry, but getting even half of the somewhat polished pieces up onto the site may take me a while (I dug out my collection of everything from my high school days and before, and there’s roughly 70 pages of it in 8pt font. You don’t even want to know just how much more I’ve written since then… and how unorganized most of it is.) So, things are *starting* to kind of come together.

Other than that, life is pretty much life. My back’s still a bit wonky from a few weeks ago (it epically went out), and I have a ton of cleaning and more paperwork to do. :/ Which is particularly not fun when it’s this uncomfortable to sit or bend. But I’m still stubbornly hopeful that if I sleep just right on it, I’ll wake up feeling fine and spiffy again. ;)

Anyway, more updating later.

More on site updates, and why everything looks so discombobulated.

Posted on April 8th, 2010

So, I’ve sucked it up and went to throwing together my own site template (there were plenty of good ones available, but nothing that could effectively handle all the things that I’m working on streaming, integrating, etc.) Anyway, the site looks fairly decent in Firefox and Chrome, but if you’re browsing in IE, gods help you. There are boxes all over the page, and I haven’t tested in Opera or Safari yet, so if you’re browsing in either of those, the site may look just as bad as it does in IE.

Anyway, I’m egads! behind in work, I came down with the mumps near the end of February… which took me about three weeks to get over, my cat was sick and passed away, and people have been popping back into town (people who I actually want to see nonetheless)… which means that I’m basically a good month, or more, behind on e-mail, facebook, and paperwork… and other such things, like filing and cleaning (as well as music, writing, and the artwork… but those don’t *usually* feel like work, and seem hard to count).

Anyway, so since I’m juggling gobs upon gobs of things, the site template may be pretty with all sorts of new and shiny things tomorrow, or two weeks from now, or a few months down the line. Probably the best way to keep up with things will be joining my facebook page (these updates stream right through, and thusly into your news feed, lucky you!)

Promote Your Page Too

(And yes, I know I only have 5 fans, but I’ve done absolutely nothing to let anyone really know that I have an Aimee Elisabeth page, it’s sort of been my little secret up until now).

Anyway, more updates later!

Updates and Such

Posted on February 28th, 2010

Right, so it’s about time that I updated the site (seeing as I have a much better idea as to what I’ll be using it for now… which, from my experience, usually helps quite a bit). I haven’t done anything too major so far (you wouldn’t being doing anything major if you had the mumps either), just a basic template change, and some backend work (that’s web nerd for ‘fixing and tuning everything up, under the hood’). But hopefully there will be some shiny decently sized changes coming soon. ;)

“Quad” Streams Fixed

Posted on September 29th, 2009

I was able to fix the streams on facebook and myspace for “Quad” (apparently the files were too high quality to stream properly… go fig).

I also went ahead and signed up on thesixtyone.com if anyone wants to track me down on there. ;)

Site update, busy working on stuff, blah blah blah blah blah…

Posted on September 11th, 2009

So, there’s been a lot going on here. I changed the site template, need to edit the top menu (in the mean time just use the “Pages” menu on the right)… I released “Quad” to friends and family on August 8, and am working on fixing up the first two tracks before sending the project off the CD Baby. (The last two tracks sound amazing… not too shabby for my first attempt at doing my own production and mastering.)

I’m also plugging away at the next poetry book (layout and concepts are all finished, it’s just a matter of cranking out the rest of the poems), working on a bit of fiction, and gearing up to do some collaboration on the next bunch of music.

In all, it’s going to be a busy fall & winter. ^_^

Other than that life is going fairly well. I finally had my first bad audition, which was actually the most freeing experience of my life. (You know you’ve arrived when you can really screw up… bad, carry through the rest of your piece as if nothing happened, and not vomit on the casting people.) ;)

Aside from a bad audition, I’ve been busy taking care of sick cats, cleaning, looking for a knitting machine, adapting to a raw food diet, and helping out with AlmsInSecret.org. So, pretty much same old routine.

Anyway, I’m getting a bit tired, so there will be more updating later. ;)

Link Page Update

Posted on May 15th, 2009

Well, I went ahead and updated the “Link” page, which should now contain just about every link to everything that I work on… minus a handful of websites that are still in the planning stages.

Anyway, it’s not a lot, but it’s at least something. If I feel industrious I might put up an “About” page next. I don’t really like writing about myself, but hey, it’s on the list of things to do, so it’ll get finished at some point.

I’m also kicking around the idea of doing public appearances, like interviews, poetry readings, etc. so, uh, if anyone needs any poetry read (or something?), let me know via the “Contact” page.

Cold Reflections in the Pond Available for Digital Download

Posted on May 13th, 2009

Well, Cold Reflections in the Pond is officially up for digital download over at http://cdbaby.com/cd/aimeeelisabeth . It should also be available through other digital retailers sometime over the next few months.

I’m also looking at tossing Sinking, Cataclysm, and a few other so far unfinished tracks that Karma Shan and I worked on onto the web as well, but that probably won’t happen until the new album is finished.

That’s right, for all those who were unaware… I’m working on a new album. Right now I’m doing all arrangements, production, and mastering on my own… which means that it’ll take me a while to finish, and it’s probably going to be far from perfect. There’s also going to be at least one instrumental… And while I’m sending everyone into deep panic, it also looks like it’s going to be electronic folk.

Now, while you’re all panicking, I can guarantee a few things, this album is probably going to be just as “dark” as Cold Reflections in the Pond (although, I never really considered Cold Reflections in the Pond to be dark… but that’s a whole side diatrabe in and of itself), and the vocals with be MUCH better (I started recording CRitP when I was 16… and sick).

Oh… and while I’m actually writing an update… a few of the tracks from the new album will be available on ITP’s first compelation CD. Which I’ll post more info on later.

That’s all for now.
